Statute of Limitations
North Carolina imposes a 3-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims under NCGS § 1-52. The state follows pure contributory negligence — if you bear any fault at all, even 1%, you are completely barred from recovery. This is the harshest fault rule in the country, shared only with Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. North Carolina is an at-fault state with minimum liability coverage of 30/60/25.
