Oregon's civil statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse extends 22 years after the survivor turns 18 (age 40), or within 5 years of discovery of the abuse's connection to harm — whichever is later. Oregon does not have an active lookback window as of February 2026. The Oregon Province of the Jesuits reached a landmark $166 million settlement in 2011 covering approximately 500 claimants primarily from Native American boarding schools in the Northwest. The Archdiocese of Portland previously filed for bankruptcy in 2004 and reached an $85 million settlement. The Diocese of Baker (eastern Oregon) has also settled multiple claims. Survivors under age 40 or within 5 years of discovery should consult an attorney.
