The social media adolescent addiction litigation (MDL-3047, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, N.D. Cal.) consolidates personal-injury claims that platform design features harmed minors, alongside claims by school districts and state attorneys general in parallel proceedings. As of July 1, 2026 the MDL held 2,893 pending cases.

In April 2026, Meta began removing plaintiff-recruitment advertising for this litigation from its own platforms under a conflict-of-interest ad policy — a first: a mass-tort defendant controlling a primary advertising channel through which claimants against it are found. Educational legal content remains permitted under the same policies.

Separately, Meta was the remaining defendant in the first major ad-tech privacy jury verdict (Frasco v. Flo Health, 2025), where co-defendants including Google settled pre-verdict for a combined $59.5 million — context for the growing pixel-litigation wave that names platform data collection. Allegations in the addiction MDL remain allegations until adjudicated.
