NHTSA Opens Investigation Into Ford Maverick Hybrid Brake Loss Reports

What happened

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation on August 24, 2026, into reports of intermittent loss of braking in the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid. The agency also opened separate investigations in July and August 2026 covering other vehicle concerns, including air bag deployment, suspension component detachment, timing belt failure, engine power loss after a recall repair, and electronic brake module failure.

    The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a new investigation on September 14, 2026, into a driveshaft-to-rear-differential connection failure.
