Boston is home to some of the nation's leading Parkinson's disease research and treatment centers, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Many Boston-area residents relocated from agricultural states where they had occupational paraquat exposure. The discovery rule allows these individuals to file claims based on when their Parkinson's diagnosis was connected to their paraquat exposure history, regardless of when the actual exposure occurred. Massachusetts's 3-year statute of limitations under Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 260 § 2A provides a reasonable filing window. All paraquat claims proceed through MDL 3004 in the Southern District of Illinois.
