MDL 2545 was established in December 2014 and at its peak consolidated over 10,000 testosterone replacement therapy cases against multiple manufacturers. The MDL process involved extensive discovery, Daubert motions challenging expert testimony, and a structured bellwether trial program. AbbVie (AndroGel) faced the most cases and ultimately reached a confidential global settlement estimated at $250M–$500M for its MDL inventory, distributed through a claims administration process.
As of early 2026, MDL 2545 remains active for cases involving Eli Lilly (Axiron), Actavis/Teva (Androderm), Pfizer (Depo-Testosterone), and related defendants. Settlement framework negotiations for these defendants were ongoing in 2024–2025. State court litigation — particularly in Illinois, California, and New Jersey — continues in parallel. Men who have not yet filed claims can still do so, provided they are within their state's statute of limitations. Filing a Short Form Complaint in MDL 2545 provides tolling protection for eligible plaintiffs.
