Methodology and limits
Source: JPML's monthly Pending MDL reports. These editions reproduce the archived reports' docket titles, transferee courts, judges and action counts. The CSV includes every docket in each available edition.
Cadence: JPML publishes monthly reports on the first business day. People's Justice publishes an edition after verifying its archived report. The latest view means the latest edition in this archive, which may lag JPML publication.
Change equals this report's pending actions minus the previous archived report's pending actions for the same MDL number. Percentage change divides that difference by the earlier count and multiplies by 100; a zero baseline has no percentage change. Gainers are ranked by positive change, including ties. Comparisons use the previous available report and may span missing months.
New and dropped-off MDLs mean a number appeared in one report and not the other. Absence does not establish that litigation ended. The first edition has no comparison.
JPML counts actions, not plaintiffs. An action can include multiple plaintiffs. These are JPML's numbers, not People's Justice's analysis, estimates or predictions. People's Justice is a legal-information publisher and is not a law firm.
