What happened
Between May and August 2026, NHTSA opened a series of new investigations covering issues such as rear toe link separation, inadvertent air bag deployment, lower lateral link detachment, timing belt failure, engine failure following a recall remedy, and electronic brake module failure. The most recent, opened August 24, 2026, examines intermittent loss of braking in 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid vehicles.
