NHTSA Opens Multiple New Vehicle Safety Investigations

What happened
Between March and July 2026, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened ten separate investigations into vehicle safety concerns, including fuel odor and power loss, anti-lock brake warning lights, front steering knuckle fractures, automated driving system behavior, rear toe link separation, rental of vehicles with open recalls, carry handle separation, inadvertent air bag deployment, lower lateral link detachment, and timing belt failure.
