What happened
Between May 26 and August 24, 2026, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a series of separate investigations into potential vehicle defects, including rear toe link separation, carry handle separation, inadvertent air bag deployment, lower lateral link detachment, timing belt failure, heat exchanger damage from road debris, engine failure following a prior recall remedy, electronic brake module failure, and intermittent loss of braking in the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid.
