NHTSA Opens Nine New Vehicle Safety Investigations

What happened
Between March 6 and July 13, 2026, NHTSA opened nine separate investigations into vehicle safety issues, including all-wheel-drive allegations, FSD collisions in low-visibility conditions, fuel smell with loss of motive power, ABS warning lamp illumination, front steering knuckle fractures, automated driving system conflict avoidance, rear toe link separation, rental of vehicles with open recalls, carry handle separation, and inadvertent air bag deployment.
