What happened

NHTSA opened a new investigation on July 29, 2026 into reports of lower lateral link detachment. This followed a string of other investigations opened by NHTSA since March 2026, covering issues such as inadvertent air bag deployment, carry handle separation, fuel smell and loss of motive power, ABS malfunction lamp illumination, front steering knuckle fractures, and rear toe link separation.
