What is the deadline in California?

California AB 218 eliminated the SOL for childhood sexual abuse against both private entities and government agencies. Survivors can file at any age. The discovery rule allows claims to be filed within 3 years of discovering the connection between the abuse and subsequent harm. A lawyer can confirm yours.

No limitation — California survivors can file at any age

Separately, for survivors abused as adults (18 or older), California's AB 250 opened a revival window — effective January 1, 2026 — that reopens previously time-barred sexual-assault claims against private institutions and perpetrators; those adult claims must be filed by December 31, 2027.
