The state's 4-year statute of limitations — one of the longest in the country — combined with the strong Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA) gives families a broad window to file claims. Florida has one of the largest youth populations in the U.S. The JPML declined to centralize video game addiction cases in 2024 (MDL No. 3109) and again on Dec. 10, 2025 (MDL No. 3168), so there is no video game addiction MDL.
Florida video game addiction cases can be filed in the circuit court of the county where the plaintiff resides or where the defendant conducts business. Miami-Dade, Broward, Hillsborough, and Orange County circuit courts handle the largest volume of consumer protection and product liability cases. The JPML declined to centralize video game addiction cases in 2024 (MDL No. 3109) and again on Dec. 10, 2025 (MDL No. 3168), so there is no video game addiction MDL. Federal claims are filed in the Southern District (Miami), Middle District (Tampa/Orlando), or Northern District (Tallahassee).
