Where would my case be heard?
Maine has a 3-year statute of limitations for medical malpractice — one of the longer adult deadlines nationally — and a minor's claim must be brought within 6 years after it accrues or within 3 years after the minor reaches majority, whichever comes first (24 M.R.S. § 2902). Maine does not cap medical malpractice damages. Maine Medical Center in Portland is the primary high-risk obstetric and NICU center.
