New Hampshire holds a unique place in PFAS history — Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth was the first U.S. military installation to publicly confirm PFAS contamination in 2014. The Pease Community Water System, which served the former base workers and tenants, was contaminated with PFOS and PFOA at levels far above EPA thresholds. Portsmouth-area residents and former Pease workers have been filing PFAS claims for years and have an ongoing, active claimant population.

New Hampshire personal injury claims are governed by RSA 508:4, providing a 3-year limitations period from discovery. Federal PFAS claims proceed in MDL 2873 (D.S.C.). Pease ANGB is the most historically significant military PFAS contamination site in terms of early public disclosure and community awareness. The Pease Community Water System, serving former base tenants at the Pease International Tradeport, was shut down in 2014 after PFAS was detected at levels far exceeding EPA guidelines. Thousands of former workers and base users were notified and blood-tested. This population has a documented and tested exposure history making claim development particularly straightforward.
