Patients claim filters broke, moved, tilted or pierced the vein. Those are claims in court. They need proof for each case.
The JPML sent the listed Cook cases to Indiana for shared pretrial work. Different patients, models and injuries remained part of the dispute. That decision is distinct from Bard's court history.
It sets work-up dates for three chosen Tulip cases. After that work, the court plans to choose two for possible trials.
Judge Richard L. Young signed and filed the order July 14, 2026. It calls for a June 2027 conference to select trial dates. It does not itself assign a fixed trial day to every Cook case.
JPML lists 6,470 Cook actions pending on October 1, 2026. That is a dated court count, not a count of approved claims or payment recipients.
The report separately lists 11,478 historical actions. Historical actions are not the same as the pending group. Neither number covers every manufacturer's filter litigation or tells you whether a new claim will be accepted.
PRESERVE reports benefits and harms in a group of filter patients. It does not settle the cause or legal merits of one Cook injury.
The study placed filters in 1421 of 1429 consenting people across 54 sites. Follow-up varied and many filters were removed. Those limits matter when comparing research with your own device and care record.
No. Ask your care team about clot risk and ways to remove the device. Some filters stay in place for life.
An order for shared court work is not medical advice. Ask the clinician about the reason for your filter, scan findings and risks of leaving it in or attempting retrieval.
Save the implant note, scans and any court papers. Ask a lawyer to check the model, parties and time limit that apply to you.
Use the facility's process to obtain missing covered health records. Tell the lawyer which details are unknown and whether you already filed. A selected trial work-up date does not replace a personal filing-limit assessment.
